WHAT'S UP

Did you guys think I stopped posting? Well, you thought right for a little while, but now you're wrong. Nice going.

I've been real busy, you guys. What with all the crap with work and a computer that is serving as a resting place for magazines at the moment, I haven't had the inclination or ability to post lately.

Here's a quick recap of events:
My grandfather had a stroke a few weeks ago. He's recovering now, but it was really scary for a little while. Speech is coming back and he's regained some memories from like the 1980s I think.

I went to two bridal showers in one action-packed weekend, which was totally rad. Really, it was... awesome. Not even kidding! I got pretty drunk at one of the bridal showers and ended up spending a jackson on a counterfeit tod's bag in a black market set up in the basement of the home where the shower was held. sweet.

and then there was camping at mesick. outside of raging thunderstorms and waking up with a wet sheet of tent fabric on my face, it was a bodacious (in a good way) weekend. i had the opportunity to catch up with/get to know some fabulous people and i'm still like glowing. thank you for the wonderful chats (you know who you are erin).

oh yes! i almost forgot that this morning i was quite nearly struck by a cyclist while on a run around reed's lake. there was this pond full of goslings and ganders next to the road, and i was looking at it, and i looked up and saw a woman coming at me on a tandem with no second rider wearing what i believe was a my little pony helmet also looking at it. i moved to avoid a collision with this genius and she UNKNOWINGLY swerved into my path again! all i could do was make this strange "ope ope opp" sound real low, but thank god she looked up at me right in the nick of time. that would have been spectacular - and you know those mama geese would have come to lay down the smack if we crashed too close to those babies.

so i'm sorry i have not updated in a while. but there is the short description of my life lately.

love,
krista

i will never reveal the wu-tang secret

ahoy, this is a dispatch from kava house in the east town neighborhood of the lovely grand rapids. i'm sitting in a rubbermaid adirondack chair, enjoying an unsweetened ice tea, with fatty's manuscript, "death clock" on one side of me, and a pair of quarreling lovers on the other. there are an inordinate amount of very small children being pushed around by mothers, nannies and grandfathers. small children used to make me nervous, but now i feel comfortable interacting with them and that makes me smile.

i'm about to go meet a friend for lunch before it's off to work for a late night shift. it's a beautiful day. the sun is shining, i'm feeling really well rested and happy. my brother is graduating from college this weekend, so i get to see him and my parents and enjoy that. my friend adrianne's sister, jillian, is also walking, so i'll get to see her family too. i'm thinking a pitcher or four of margeritas on the roof of el azteco is certainly in order.

some jerk nearby has one of those "beep beep where you at" phones and is using it like CRAZY! hey mister, would it kill you to simply hold the phone to your ear and have a fluid conversation. i don't care what's going on with the shipment of shampoo for the salon on fuller. if i were to hold an informal survey, i doubt anyone else around here give two craps either. that's the breaks. you're wrecking my serene post, man.

patrick is feeling better after he was struck intentionally by a sledgehammer this weekend. just kidding. it was an accident. his arm got in the way of a flying hammer but he's feeling better. it has, however, made the tendons on his forearm sing out in pain! you can really hear them squeak. it's kind of a cool trick, hopefully it will stop though.

oh man someone is cooking some onions nearby and they are about to be descended upon by me and my insatiable appetite for carmelized onions. oh. yeah.

enjoy the warm weather!
