i will never reveal the wu-tang secret

ahoy, this is a dispatch from kava house in the east town neighborhood of the lovely grand rapids. i'm sitting in a rubbermaid adirondack chair, enjoying an unsweetened ice tea, with fatty's manuscript, "death clock" on one side of me, and a pair of quarreling lovers on the other. there are an inordinate amount of very small children being pushed around by mothers, nannies and grandfathers. small children used to make me nervous, but now i feel comfortable interacting with them and that makes me smile.

i'm about to go meet a friend for lunch before it's off to work for a late night shift. it's a beautiful day. the sun is shining, i'm feeling really well rested and happy. my brother is graduating from college this weekend, so i get to see him and my parents and enjoy that. my friend adrianne's sister, jillian, is also walking, so i'll get to see her family too. i'm thinking a pitcher or four of margeritas on the roof of el azteco is certainly in order.

some jerk nearby has one of those "beep beep where you at" phones and is using it like CRAZY! hey mister, would it kill you to simply hold the phone to your ear and have a fluid conversation. i don't care what's going on with the shipment of shampoo for the salon on fuller. if i were to hold an informal survey, i doubt anyone else around here give two craps either. that's the breaks. you're wrecking my serene post, man.

patrick is feeling better after he was struck intentionally by a sledgehammer this weekend. just kidding. it was an accident. his arm got in the way of a flying hammer but he's feeling better. it has, however, made the tendons on his forearm sing out in pain! you can really hear them squeak. it's kind of a cool trick, hopefully it will stop though.

oh man someone is cooking some onions nearby and they are about to be descended upon by me and my insatiable appetite for carmelized onions. oh. yeah.

enjoy the warm weather!

Just poking my head into your blog to invite you to my annual crawfish boil this weekend, but it looks like you are busy with your brothers graduation. If you don't remember me, it's Benjamin, the big red headed guy from Founders who grew up with your favorite author Jimmy Frey ;)

Hey Benjamin! Thanks for posting. I love that someone poked their head into my blog to invite me to a crawfish boil. While I would love to attend, here I sit at my brother's disgusting house o dudes waiting for commencement to begin. It takes a lot to freak me out, and I'm really not that far out of living in a gross college house myself, but this is really spectacularly dirty. I hope you have a great weekend and thanks for the invite.
